Today was such a great day. I had fun visitors and I met my friend at her house to go to the Farmer’s Market in Palm Desert…..it’s just a mile down the street so there’s no excuse for me not to go weekly to support the local farmers and get some fabulous organic produce and veggies! We are thinking of starting a garden soon….such an array of fresh sprouts we can buy to fill it up:
I love all the selection and colors at the market:
It inspires me to be healthier:
Lots o’ greens:
Boo’s favorite:
Gorgeous colors:
These smelled SO good:
I asked if the crates were for sale too…..yes!
Mr. LBB’s favorite….the famous “green drink” at the market:
After the market, my friend made me a wheatgrass shot at her house…..she has a great little tabletop juicer that cranks by hand:
Squeezing every little last drop out of the wheatgrass:

Add a dash of cayenne peppper and squeeze a bit of lemon in the shot…..it tastes great!
I was introduced to chia seeds too today. Just add a bit to some juice and you’ll never know you’re eating them. The chia seed is full of fiber and protein, packed with antioxidants, loaded with vitamins and minerals, and the richest known plant source of omega-3 (more than flax seed!) You can get them at your local health food store!
I feel healthy already. Oh, did I mention I’ve done the coffee enemas two days in a row? Not even joking. And they made me feel SO much better. I feel like all the toxicity has finally left my body (just in time to start a new round of chemo tomorrow). My mom has been asking me to do coffee enemas for weeks now and the gift from my friend Megan finally made me do it. All you do is brew organic coffee and add it to your enema bag (the kind you buy from the drug store that looks like a hot water bottle)……I dilute it with cool water so the liquid is tepid. It’s used to detoxify the liver. I’m not an expert so Google it….here’s a good overview from Natural News.
P.S. It seems all I talk about is poop now. Sorry. But my life kind of revolved around it. I even bought the Poo Tracker app for my iphone. It’s awesome. If you are shy, you can password protect it.

I live in NH so seeing all those farmer’s market goodies makes me jealous! Stay strong and know that I am praying for you.
You are AMAZING! Love chia seeds, love the colors, and LOVE the crates!

We don’t have farmer’s markets here in Maryland in the winter. Lucky you! I’m also going to get some chia seeds. Thinking of throwing them into my green smoothies!
I grew up in Redlands and seeing that crate made me homesick. That picture instantly brought back the smell of orange blossoms. Thanks for the memory especially on a day when I am enduring a snow storm
Funny, I live in Redlands currently and had to show my husband the pic.
Boy that looks fun might have to try the wheat grass thing, I am a grammy but like to try the new things drives my husband crazy lol. How do I get stated any websites to send me too? Hope your day isn’t to awful tomorrow I am still praying for you daily, you are my hero bless your heart.

I’m so jealous! I love wheatgrass and fresh is awesome. So glad you are perky and hope tomorrow. Gosh, if we were only there. You are so blessed to have all the love and support around you and all you are giving back is fantastic. Keep it up and don’t forget to rest and renew!! love and healing!!
What an amazing Farmer’s Market! Here in midddle america (and the middle of that even), we don’t have anything nearly that awesome but come June we are moving to Lawrence Ks and I hear they have some FAB Farmer’s Market action up there. Wishing you well! And thanks for all the info you share about juicing and (yes, even) enemas.
I love all of your posts and love that you are so REAL! Your stories are just so inspiring and uplifting! Praying for your total and complete healing from the sunshiny Vitamin D filled Florida!
You should try kombucha, there is a brand called Synergy I think that was started by a guy who’s mom successfully beat breast cancer and he attributes the drink. It is amazing and whenever I drink it I feel like I am superwoman haha. Fermented foods are really good for you. Wild fermentation is a great book.
Chia seeds are amazing, you’ll love them. I put a scoop of chia seeds and a scoop of flax seeds on top of greek yogurt for breakfast most mornings (with some honey, too…..who am I kid dins?). You can even add them to water as they’re tasteless for the most part. A friend of mine always has some in a water bottle. Good times. Glad you had a great day!

Hi Ashley! I found your site today via Mom Tog. I just want you to know that I have sat here and read so much of your website. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve sat in awe…and I am absolutely AMAZED at your strength, your attitude, your mission…everything. You are an inspiration and God is using you in such mighty ways through your triumphs and your struggles. Thank you for sharing your story. And by the way…you are the most gorgeous bald girl I’ve ever seen! You will be in my prayers, and I look forward to keeping up with your site.

I agree – fermented foods help a lot. Try fermented veggies for a turbo load of natural probiotics! My local raw food “guru” is Jason at Happy Healthy Human. (www.happyhealthyhuman.com) He is really nice and knows a ton about raw food diets and the benefits. There are many raw food cookbooks too. My favorites are by Ani Phyo.
I bought a juicer this weekend at Costco. Haven’t tried it yet-kind of scared:) I am trying to be healthier and prepare myself to start chemo. I will have to look into the wheatgrass and chia seeds. Those baskets are awesome!!
Jordin
You. Are. Awesome. Love your posts, sending prayers x
I’ve heard that Chia seeds are available at Costco. I’ve looked at mine without luck but you never know. I may just have to break down and order some – they’re proving hard to find in my little county!
You go girl…so inspirational! I love that you are doing the enemas and all that green stuff and colors are natures pharmacy! I am a chia seed freak..love them. So proud of your pursuit of health. You are coming at that stupid cancer from all angles, know that we are out hear doing our part with our prayers and cheers for you. Much much love..
Amy
OMG You crack me up! Password protect my PooP App…seems kind of silly after all we’ve shared…don’t you think?
Those strawberries look so amazing!! Love your photos, and can’t wait for summer so our farmers market opens up!
I just found your blog a couple of days ago, sent here from http://www.jonesdesigncompany.com — I have read your posts and watched your video — you are simply the most wonderful person I have encountered, and I love your “choose joy” attitude. I will keep you and your sweet family in my prayers.
Any idea when your “choose joy” necklaces will be available for pre-order again?
Love it! Love that you had a good day, that you told us how to enjoy Chia seeds and wheatgrass, and that you said this:
>>I asked if the crates were for sale too…..yes!
I would have asked, too, as those crates are awesome! Wish I lived close enough to get some!
Thanks for the poop updates, too. No one ever talks about stuff like that, so I’m always grateful that you do! It’s not fun, but it’s really important and if things aren’t working right in that area, you can be so miserable… So, thank you for your willingness to share! You are helping the silent majority out here in cyberland!!

The world seems very small today as I just left Palm Desert yesterday evening, arrived home in the middle of the Canadian prairie this afternoon, sat down this evening to look at my favourite (yes, that’s how we Canadians spell it) blogs, including Jones Design Company. Then clicked to your blog, read a little of your story – thanks for sharing what you’re going through. Was good to read. Now I see that you went to a Farmer’s Market where I just was yesterday! I had no idea there was one in Palm Desert – must go and visit it next time I’m there.
I always enjoy the Street Fair that is just down the street from our family’s vacation home. I found myself wondering this last Saturday as I strolled through the stalls if anyone in Palm Desert ever has a need for mittens as this is what I create
Blessings as you fight the fight – take care.
And I make toques (hats) and scarves! Greetings from a fellow Canadian! Snowing tonite in our part of Southern Alberta!
Ashley, I was envying those great looking fresh veggies. By the time they’re shipped up here they don’t look like that!
I found that one about the cilantro. It’s a natural news article too.
http://www.naturalnews.com/027942_cilantro_heavy_metals.html
I will be doing this soon. I am ever to get all the crap from chemo out of my system. I think I’m going to get the mustard bath too. That sounds like a great addition to my regimen.
*eager
Hi Ashley, I am going through chemo here is Israel at the moment. I got to your blog through LaineyGossip.com.
Coffee enemas DO work to make us feel better! Another widely used natural treatment here is to drink natural coconut water (NOT milk) after treatments. The balance of vitamin, minerals and electrolytes is practically miraculous at making me feel better. Maybe you could try it. XO
p.s. when I am sitting there in the chemo chair I always imagine a white beam of light in my centre growing bigger and bigger-it comforts me. I have everyone in our ‘circle’ doing it LOL!
.
One never tires of hearing about poop……..
Which is good……., because there is always so much to say………
Patricia
You inspire me to be healthier!! I’m gonna have to try the chia seeds for sure!
Your poop talk brings me back down to earth, in the midst of all my self importance.
. God bless you! I am praying for you. Good luck w/ your next round.
Oh to have such fresh fruits and veggies!!! I haven’t found any like that in NYC in a while. Very envious.
Now downloading poop tracker…
OK. Important things first….THE CRATES! Precious!!!
Maybe I’ll get it for my 2 year old….he is quite “old man” in his poo obsession.
A Poo tracker, seriously?? That is too funny! I bet my senior citizen friends would be ALL over that…if they knew what an app was! They, too, get a little obsessed with their poo.
I’ve said poo 3 times (now 4!) in this comment, so I guess I’ve gotten a little obsessed about it too!
You are in my prayers and I know God is so pleased with you and your JOYFUL attitude!
OMG! I love those crates. Your pictures are beautiful and make me long for warm weather. No farmers markets right now for us Midwesterners. Note to self: move to a warmer climate location
Praying for you always!
I haven’t read through all the comments yet, so maybe someone else already mentioned this, but chia seeds make an AMAZING breakfast porridge. Just soak them in water for about 15 minutes, they’ll expand and become a wee bit gelatinous. Then steam some milk or oat milk or almost milk, drain the seeds, from the water and add the hot milk. Delicious! Top with nuts or berries or bananas and you have a real treat!
I found your blog and read your story through Jones Design Company. I just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you.
I like drinking chia fresca:
8-10 oz water
1 tbsp chia seeds
juice from 1/2 a lime
a little sugar or honey to sweeten
Stir it up, let it sit a minute or two, and drink. I like when the seeds plump up, they’re kind of like the tapioca in bubble tea!
How did you learn about what to do with a detox? It’s something I’m interested in but I’m not sure where to start or what to buy? There is so much information on the internet that is overwhelming. What’s a good starting point?
Going to get some Chia Seeds…thank you Ashley! Love and hugs…you are one amazing lady!!
The one thing I miss about living in California is the beautiful weather and produce this time of year. Thanks for sharing. I can almost smell those strawberries through the computer.
Praying for you Ashley. Be blessed!! XOXOXOXOXO
Shut up! Those crates are amazing – I’ve been on the hunt for crates like that for YEARS! How much were they selling them for? (If you don’t mind my asking….)
Those strawberries are AMAZING looking! I’m not much into wheatgrass, but those shots look interesting…..
Have a fantastic night Ashley! I’m choosing joy thanks TO YOU!
thanks for sharing about the poop app
