A Lullaby

The other night…..in a state of insomnia….I posted on Facebook for someone to “please sing me a lullaby.”  About 30 minutes later there was a beautiful version of Edelweiss by Allison Barnes posted on the page. What a sweet gesture. Edelweiss was one of my dad’s favorite songs….it brought tears to my eyes.   Click here and press the play button to hear the lullaby!

Thank you Allie!

Such a sweet gesture! I had never heard this song before, and now thanks to this lovely lady – I’m memorizing it to sing to my babies some day :) I hope it brings as much peace to others, as it has to me this evening.

Edelweiss was the one lullaby I have sung and hummed to put my babies to sleep for 6 years now. They need it less and less, but is still a comforting lullaby.

What a sweet gesture from Allison, and I hope it helped your insomnia.

Hi Ashley, I’ve been away from blogland for a while and am just catching up. I was so sad to read about your illness, but your indomitable spirit will see you through.

Oh and you look absolutely beautiful with your head shaved (as does your mum).

Sending all the very best of wishes to you. x

(May I link your video to my blog and Facebook? It’s such an inspiration.)

What a crazy coincidence, I happened to come across your blog a while ago by chance and have been following your story and have been touched. You have inspired some changes in my life, mainly to Choose Joy in a time in my life where I have been very unhappy and in turn made everyone especially my family miserable too. I read your request for a lullaby one late night and the next morning I saw my friend Allie Barnes posted on her facebook that she sent you one. And today I see your post here. Allie is a wonderful woman who is as lovely as her voice. She is amazing. It is so wonderful that there are so many beautiful, kind and inspiring women out there like both you and Allison!

beautiful. amazing how a song can trigger so many emotions. Also one of my favorites, from sound of music. thanks for sharing. I know insomnia well, when caring for my ill mother for 4 years I had many of those nights. The mind just won’t turn off, shut down or obey your wish’s. So helpless I know. sending big warm hug your way.

Doesn’t God have a special way of “gentle reminders”? This gesture tells alot about Allison w/o ever meeting her. She is a woman of compassion, empathy, love and has trouble sleeping also. God bless her, blessing you.
