Shop for a Cause: The Fitzgerald Family

So much kindness was sent my way last week with the Team Ashley auction that I want to pay it forward….and right now.  So starting tomorrow morning at 9am EST/6am Pacific 100% of all Lil Blue Boo pattern sale proceeds for 48 hours will go to benefit the Fitzgerald family.

In January of 2011, Kezia Fitzgerald was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stage 3b. She and her husband Mike’s beautiful little girl Saoirse was then diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4 High Risk on May 5th of 2011. She was only 11 Months old. Kezia and Saoirse were battling 2 different types of cancer at the same time. Kezia went into remission in September. Saoirse passed away December 13th 2011 at 6:47 am. She was 18 Months old.

CNN shared the family’s story back in September and again in December.

You can read more about Saoirse’s story, Kezia’s story, and Neuroblastoma on the Fitzgerald’s blog here.

You are an amazing person, Ashley. I have been following your blog for a long time, but I have never posted before. My heart breaks for you, your beautiful family and everyone who has been touched by cancer. My own daughter is fighting cancer, for the second time. After she is through with her chemotherapy, she will be admitted to Froedtert Cancer Center to have a stem cell transplant. My niece had a transplant two years ago for Leukemia. You are all, beautiful, strong, courageous and young women, who are in my prayers daily…..

I will be buying patterns for the four giveaway winners as well. Thank you for doing this and for reminding us that when we combine our resources we can do AWESOME things to bless other people!!

He husben has cancer and she is haveing a really hard time also a family died form the same cancer that he has. That day when we saw the video and went to advizing i got one of those “choose joy” braclets. till the day i still have it on. The family friends name is Mr. Gates and he was a high school teacher. He was married and had three kids, two in high school and the other just starting kindergarden. My sisster is going through a really hard time. One day she called my day crying and she called him daddy. she is 30 years old. I know that this has nothing to do with this but i just wanted to tell u. I’ll be shopping and I will pass the word along! I may have to copy Christy’s idea and offer some for giveaway prizes. I read the sad story of the Fitzgerald’s several weeks ago when I read your the whole “Choose Joy” chronicles in one sitting . . . it is amazing to see what positivity you are bringing to this dark world of cancer. Thank you for every thing (little or big!) you do.

    Ashley,
I think everything you are doing is amazing. I follow you all the time and give my husband updates on how you are doing. My thought and prayers go out to you and your family. Your joy is infectious even over the computer. Wanted to give you an idea about paying forward ideas or even generating sales for yourself. Consider doing an electronic booklet of your top posts. You have such a wonderful following. It would be great for you and I’m sure you would be very successful. Just an idea I wanted to share and pass along. :)
