Just got back from Dr. L’s office. My scans were clear! The only change is a new cyst in my ovary which must be causing the discomfort in my pelvis.
I gave Dr. L a huge hug and he laughed and said “just don’t let your husband hug me.”
He said it was amazing news and now we’ll just monitor my HCG levels to make sure they don’t go up from 2.
He always does his dictation in the room and the second he took out his recorder, I said:
I had the pleasure of seeing Mrs. Hackshaw today……
….basically stealing his line.
He paused for a second and then dictated:
I saw Mrs. Hackshaw today……and had the pleasure of seeing her husband Mr. Hackshaw…..
I can’t wait to see if that gets edited out of the final version of his notes.
Anyway, thank you for all the prayers! Cookies for everyone. God is good.

P.S. If I owned a rooster, I’d name him: Dr. Luke Dreisbach (aka “Dr. L” my oncologist)
P.P.S. Boo got this replacement chicken in the mail from my mom today…..replacement because the last one had reached the end of it’s life. My mom sent an emergency replacement in the mail because Boo was traumatized when the chicken popped and we had to throw it away.
P.P.P.S. Since we don’t have a rooster, we’ll name this chicken Dr. L….and hopefully the real Dr. L will understand it’s actually a great honor to have a rubber chicken named after you in our family.

Great news!!! I have about 3o random chickens and roosters that live in my yard (they are wild), so if you ever need a chicken or rooster to be named for someone just let me know. I will be happy to pass out names to one of my yard residents

I’m on Tamoxifen for BC and a side effect is ovarian cysts. I know the ache you speak of and at times it can flare up and hurt like heck! I can see where it caused worry for sure…
You are the reason Dr. L loves his job so much. Not simply because he got to pass along great news, but because you would have probably stole his line even if you had received bad news. That, to me, is the beautiful picture of living your faith. I am thrilled that you get to choose joy in life right now since it’s the number 1, 2 and 3 options.
Hooray for replacement chickens too. Savor all the good right now. I hope you get lots more of it in the coming days too. Give Mr. Hackshaw a hug from me, just because it means you get one too.

Yeah for good news! Is it hot enough at your house to “bake” the cookies on the sidewalk? Last week it was like spring(50s-60s and raining) and now we have 90s here in Southern Oregon…not complaining, it’s hot all over! AND praising God for your answered prayer(s)!

My mom recently ordered 10 baby chicks (egg layers) and one has started crowing, my mom says she’s just clearing her throat… But we need to change HER name I think. I will start thinking of him as dr L now
cysts are very painful – so glad that’s all it was though! yeah for cookies!!! no bake ones? those are the best! i’m still bummed i saw you at CHA in Jan – and didn’t stop you to say hello! hopefully next year?!
