Stars Wars would be so cool, I’m from the Detroit area. I would LOVE to do the Gothic D that Detroit had adopted, for my boys. I don’t make them as much as I do for the girls.

Alright–I went digging, though probably not thoroughly enough, and I still have two questions. First, what is the board/surface you glued everything to? Plywood? or? …and how will you hang these? They’re SO massive and cool, and I want to make massive and cool too! But I don’t want to make it and THEN realize I can’t hang it anywhere… lol!

      • 14

Well, I do them on MDF board from the hardware store but you could probably do them on canvas as long as you used industrial glue and it would weigh less. To hang them you have to use mirror brackets on the back and make sure you use drywall anchors in the wall unless you can find a stud.

Of course–MDF! That makes sense. You’re right about the canvas being lighter. I’d be curious to give it a try! Hmn. Let’s see how much motivation I can muster ;)

Wow! This is amazing! I’ve done small button collages before, but I never even dreamed of doing something on this scale. It’s AWESOME! :)

I love how you incorporated a giraffe and a skull into the Cinderella one! These are amazing! I want to try The Kiss, but worry about how it has squares in it. Do you think on the large scale it will still appear ok? It is my favorite! Oh and my daughter already requested we do a Cinderella one! Thanks again!

  3. [...] Coming to the intense ones, Lil Blue Boo has created some of the popular characters through Buttons. I can already imagine the effort that has gone into making this one, but I guess the number of hours you put into this will directly reflect on the end result. So if you do have some time, then portraits would be pretty cool. the trick is to find many tones of the color to show proper shading. They have uploaded a video tutorial showing how they went about it, which you can access here. [...]
