Email Love: Volume 4

Compilation of snarky emails and comments volume 4 via

I always save my favorite emails and comments….especially the ones that made me laugh…..and the hate mail. Here’s some excerpts from both….thanks for the love everyone!
Click here for the whole series.

Random email…..subject: “Unlike”

“For some reason I can’t unlike you I want you off my Facebook …have you created some kind of block..?”
Note to self: figure out how to block people from un-liking my page.

On my Elf on the Shelf series:

“Considering this is a little kids tradition, i think alot of these were so discusting? especially for little kids. , like the peeping tom, the pills in the drink, being high, a camel toe? as if little kids even know what that stuff is! what is this world coming to. you can even do a kids tradition without someone turning into some kind of sick joke.”
I agree….what is the world coming to?! Why would an elf have cameltoe?! And worse….why would some loser photograph it?!

On my faux hawk a few months back:

“I cannot get over how sexy de mohawk lookie.”
I say this almost once a day now “sexy de mohawk lookie”….it just makes me happy.

“love you, but sorry, hate that hairdo!  looks way to lesbianic (to quote jersey shore).  nothing wrong with a short do, but that’s not cute!!”
I do value ALL opinions!  Thank you!

“I know you are not a lesbian but I still think you should submit your look-a-like photo:”
I don’t get it:

On my Random Acts of Kindness video:

“It is wonderful that your daughter wanted to do this  But the magic dissipated by the filming and posting of this video.  Acts of kindness should be done secretly, without publicity.  I am sorry to see this corruption of such a lovely idea.”
I understand where you are coming from…and it’s wonderful that you wanted to do this too..but I feel like the magic dissipated when you pressed “post comment.”

Miss Teenage Maryland c. 1967

I was digging through a box of memories last night to show Boo something and found an old favorite….that’s my mom c. 1967.  Ronald Reagan would have been Governor of California I think.

A few things I love about this photo:

1. My mom and her amazing dress.
2. Ronald Reagan looks so tall!
3. The “superman” telephone booth in the background.

Fact: Did you know that President Reagan designated Martin Luther King Day a national holiday?
Fact: President Reagan was a devoted diary keeper!  In his 8 years as President he wrote in his diary EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. That’s what inspired me to start my 5 year journal!

I Believe

At Boo’s school there is a painting of an American flag that has the following words written on it:

The photo is one I took on Instagram during a morning hike to the Palm Desert cross.

Here is the enormous piece that the students made that decorates one of the halls:

I love that.

I spent the last few days filming at Boo’s school….capturing the student life behind the walls:

I just enrolled Boo in 1st grade for next year at The Academy of PDCPC. She has been there since the age of two and I couldn’t imagine her anywhere else.  She loves when Mr. LBB takes her early…..and loves to be the last one picked up.  Now I enroll her in the after-school programs….she starts pottery next week with a local artisan.

I always share the things that I love on this site…..and so today I’m sharing Boo’s school since it’s such a big part of our life.  I made the digital short to bring the school to life for those locally who might be looking for a good fit for their child.  It’s faith-based but there are children of other religions there….and I love that it’s not exclusive. In Kindergarten this year Boo and her entire class learned all 50 states and capitals.  It was pretty amazing. (Note: that meant that I had to learn them as well because I didn’t do so well the first time around in elementary school).

Visit The Academy of Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church here…..and if you happen to see any typos let me know…..those would be MY typos!

There’s an Open House Sunday, March 17, 2013, 12:00 to 1:00pm.

The Lil Journal Project | Day 37

I spent today in my journal listing out teachers that I could remember. It was harder than I thought. I remembered my elementary teachers and in middle school and high school I remember certain ones….but then I draw a blank. I know if I dig through some papers and report cards I might be able to remember the rest….but at least it’s a start so I don’t start forgetting more:

The Lil Journal Project | Day 36

Oh my…..I’ve neglected The Lil Journal Project!  Getting back on track here…..I’ll be posting there here and there….it IS an ongoing project until the end of time (at least my time).  It’s never too late to start either! Start from Day 1 or do the days randomly (you can find them day by day and click through to the full post from Pinterest if that’s easier).

I Can Bloe it Up

Boo’s teacher has the class write sentences everyday….they try to come up with their own and do the best they can with spelling. I look forward to seeing what she’s written:

I picked up the results of my scans today…..unremarkable…..which is awesome.  No changes to remark upon.

EXCEPT the report said there were postsurgical changes from a partial pneumonectomy.  I looked it up:  lung removal

What the….how did I lose a lung during a CT scan?!

I called and let them know that I proofread the report for them… they could make the report final-final…instead of just final. Pneumonectomy was changed to hysterectomy.

Oh and my right ovary is asymmetrically bulky.  That sounds awful.  Can they see that on airport x-ray scans? If so, I’m going to be really self conscious.

I hope that will be my LAST CT scan for a long time.  I’ve got important stuff to do….

… memorizing the first 30 decimal places of pi with Boo. We sing the song. She’s determined to go on…..I gave up after 30.

Then I spent 3 hours on the phone trying to figure out insurance claims today too.  It’s never ending.  I’ve got some advice for anyone going through chemotherapy and other ongoing complicated treatments: keep a spreadsheet with your bills and note EVERY single appointment, bill, charge etc and match it to your explanation of benefits.  If you can’t do it yourself….find someone to help you.  I’ve caught so many errors and billing issues I’ve lost count. (I zeroed out my spreadsheet and put in some fake examples. I uploaded it here if you want it…..just add rows where it says to add rows and you won’t mess up any formulas. It’s formatted to print too. Good night and good luck!)
