Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken

It was my birthday this weekend. I recently bought one of my favorite movies from when I was younger to share with Boo and so Friday was movie night:

Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken

(more of my favorite horse movies here)

I think I cried over 10 times watching it. It was even better than I remembered. “Manure just happens to be my specialty.” I’m so happy Boo loved it….she cried over 10 times too.

I woke up Sunday morning to a jelly donut and a McDonald’s iced coffee…perfect!  And my mom sent me an Olive Garden gift certificate….but on the way to Olive Garden we did something craaaazy and detoured to Red Lobster.  None of us had ever been to one.

6 and 36

…and for most of the weekend I enjoyed my favorite pastime: projects.  Lots of projects.

I’m working on the Lil Blue Boo office and my office in the house.  Re-organizing and re-decorating.  Everything is in total upheaval right now but I’ll share some progress pics soon!

Today I painted a table…among other things.  And yes, that’s a monkey in the background. (a chalkboard monkey….he’s our “guest book”)

Movies I Watched in 2012 (but not necessarily from 2012)

Because I love lists…..here are all ninety-three movies I watched in 2012 (that I can remember)…..even though they all weren’t released in 2012. Most are on Netflix. Keep in mind I spent a lot of time in chemo.

My favorites:

The Lifetime Movie classics that never get old:

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2011)
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011)
The Help (2011)

Lisbeth Saaaahl-Laaaahnder

In college I went 4 months straight eating a mixture of 1 part plain yogurt with 1 part Grapenuts cereal. And it had to be the right ratio. And the Grapenuts had to be added periodically because I have a standard of deviation for sogginess.  After 4 months I never ate it again. Ever. I eat other cereals though and I still pay attention to sogginess.  I’ll pour a bowl of milk and then add a few Apple Jacks at a time.  I’m such a creature of habit. Excess habit. That’s a nicer way of saying OCD. If I find something I like I’ll eat it over and over and over until one day something new comes along.

One thing that I will never eat willfully: plain sandwich bread.  I’m not talking about dinner bread…..I’m talking like a loaf of sandwich bread.  Unless it’s covered in peanut butter and jelly.  But now I can’t eat peanut butter because my mom says it’s full of bacteria. Yesterday the refrigerator was down to a bare minimum and I was so desperate that I ate some Soybutter.  It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It only took me 2 years to try it. (This is why I can’t make Boo try stuff she insists she doesn’t like…..because I won’t.) Oh yeah, back to the sandwich bread…..just the smell of it makes me nauseous. It smells like fish bait to me. Probably because when I was little we used to ball up little pieces of sandwich bread to catch fish.  It reminds me of ducks too…..for the same reason. Not that we tried to catch ducks with hooks.  Who would want to catch a duck? And in conclusion, the bread also reminds me of investment banking because everyone knows that if you split a loaf of bread apart you can sell the slices for more than the entire loaf but you have to factor in the costs of separation too.

Photo of the Day: Brave

Tonight Mr. LBB and I took Boo to a movie……for the first time. No, our kid isn’t deprived….she’s been to the movies a gazillion times….just with her grandparents. I would just rather watch movies at home. 1. it’s inexpensive and 2. there’s a pause button (I missed the Twilight engagement scene in the movie theater because I had to go to the bathroom!)

We saw Brave. Halfway through:

Boo: I can’t fall asleep Mommy.
Me: Maybe because we’re in a movie theater?

It was a little scary in parts for a young kid I think. We covered Boo’s eyes a few times.  But I loved the message…..and was totally entertained.

Now I can’t stop talking in an Scottish accent: I shall tell you of William Wallace…

….and just found a piece of popcorn in my bra.
