Here’s another tutorial on how to paint concrete garden statues. I finally finished my concrete deer! I painted a quilt on this one:
I had these old concrete deer in the yard from the previous owners and instead of hiding them behind bushes I decided it would be fun to make them into art pieces and display them front and center. I painted the first deer using outdoor paint to look like a dala horse:
For the paint I used Deco Art’s Outdoor Living Exterior / Interior Paint plus a few shades of chalk paint and other acrylic craft paints. As long as you use a thick polyurethane varnish as your final coat you can seal everything onto the concrete:
Outdoor paint:
I didn’t plan the quilt out ahead of time I just made it up as I went along:
I tried to make the colors as different as possible not worrying if they clashed or not:
There are so many quilt patterns out there that can be used as inspiration:

I call it a “quilt onesie”:

I’ve seen so many different kinds of concrete yard art: chickens, ducks geese, gnomes…all that can be repainted into something fun and new.
